Thomas Healy
born 1811 Ireland
died May 25, 1854
Buried St. Mary's of the Snow,
RC Cemetery, Saugerties, NY

Married Ellen Ford 1842,
in Limerick, Ireland

Ellen Ford
born (see note 9) Ireland
died November 15, 1866
Buried St. Mary's of the Snow,
RC Cemetery, Saugerties, NY

Notes:
1. See Memorial Page for Thomas and Ellen Healy.

2. Griffith's Valuation 1849-50:
Thomas Healy living in Gowran and paid an annual rent for a 3 acre farm to Charles Bayley.

3. From family records Thomas and Ellen lived in Co.Kilkenney, Ireland, before moving to USA in 1852.

4. Mary Ann Healy was born September 6, 1853 in Quarryville, Ulster Co. NY. Thomas Healy died May 25, 1854 and was buried in St. Mary's of the Snow RC Cemetery, Saugerties, Ulster Co. NY.

5. Edward Healy was born (William Edward Healy) in 1843 the elder son of Thomas and Ellen. In the USA he is refered to as Edward except in a 1865 diary entry where he is called William by John C. Healy

6. According to the 1880 census Edward Healy & Anna Keane lived in the Catskill, Greene Co., NY area.

7. Thomas Healy and Ellen Ford were buried in Saugerties at the St. Mary of the Snow RC Church Cemetery.

8.
May 27, 1854 Saugerties Telegraph:
On Thursday, the 25th, at 7:30 AM, Laflin & Smith's powder mill exploded. Killed were Cyrus Brocklebank, a native of New Hampshire, Peter F.L. Buising, a German, James Bell, Isaac Bell, George Kennedy, Jeremiah Quirk and Thomas Healy, natives of Ireland. The last four had families.

9.
Census Information of 1855:
In the 1855 NYS census of Saugerties, third district item number 161; Ellen (Healy) Haley, age 38/widow, Edward 16, John 14, James 11, Margaret 6, all born in Ireland and Mary Ann 1, born Ulster Co.
( a ) The name was printed as it would have sounded but should have been Healy.
( b ) According to the recorded age of Ellen this would have given her a 1817 birth.
( c ) However, according to Grave marker she was born in 1829.
( d ) If the 1829 date is correct then her only sister, Bridget Ford was her senior by 15 years and Thomas Healy was her senior by 18 years.
( e ) A 1829 birth would place her at age 13 years when she was married and age 14 when first son was born.
( e ) Also note that the 1855 census records would have my John C. Healy being born in 1841 and not October 02, 1844 which is known.
( f ) From the known dates for John C. Healy and Bridget Ford I would consider that the 1817 date for Ellen's birth would be a more possible consideration.
( g ) The record from the grave marker would make her birth in 1829.  However, this date does not match the census records nor online genealogy records in Ireland.
( h )  Based on these items I would consider a 1817 date of birth is more correct.

Bridget Ford
( Only sister of Ellen Ford )

born May 6, 1814 Ireland
died October 23, 1891 Herkimer Co. NY

Note Insert on Bridget Ford

Parents of Ellen and Bridget: (under research)

Possible considerations are -
For 1829 birth of Ellen
None Known

For 1817 birth of Ellen

Seapatrick, Co.Down, Ireland

For 1814 birth of Ellen
Thomas Ford & Anna Ryan of St.Munchins,
Limerick, Ireland

For 1813 birth of Ellen
Dominick Ford & Anne of St.Mary,
Limerick, Ireland
